Your summary of the positive or negative impact of CEO behavior, actions or in-actions is simple, spot on and profound.

How a business leader follows through or not, can have huge ripple effects. Have you asked your staff recently what kind of ripples they are feeling internally?

Thanks for the kind words - that made ME happy :o)

And I agree, that sometimes layoffs are the right thing to do.

However, in the current business climate, layoffs have become an automatic reaction to any downturn in the market, and research shows that this is most often a mistake that ends up costing companies money.

I disagree with the anonymous donation. Why give the employee the choice of a charity when give them cash to make a donation on their own accord?

And I also disagree that giving employees more money creates extrinsic motivation. If you took away the money, who would come to work?

This sounds like a great group focused on exactly my next angle of attack. Too bad your not on the East coast running a group like this. You should consider a "predictable pipeline" work shop in NYC.

I wonder if individuals who have not yet grown a business to this size might also be invited to meetings such as this. Perhaps not as participants, but as an audience. Well done on your initiative in putting this together.
